Persephone’s journey

Narrative painting cycle; 2021-2023

This series evokes the lived experience—emotional, mental, and spiritual processes that unfold within us as we love. The series Persephone’s Path is a self-portrait—an autobiographical narrative told through the archetype of Persephone. Drawing on the myth of Persephone and Hades, as well as imagined mythological landscapes, the series becomes a metaphor for love: its continuities and ruptures, its descents into darkness, and its return to the light. Like the changing of the seasons, the works trace inner transformations within a love relationship—from the Creation of Spring, Love, Pain, Silence, Grace, and Empathy, to the arrival of realization: “Truth.” Each painting is accompanied by a poem of the same title. The image does not illustrate the poem, nor does it diverge from it; rather, it guides the viewer toward hidden meanings, opening new possibilities for experiencing the work.
This series evokes the emotional, mental, and spiritual processes that unfold within us through the experience of love.
